A rental Houmongi from Sweet Angel. An almost White kimono with Black and white Obi and Eri.
White is culturally worn by the deceased, and also brides in traditional Japanese weddings (it signifies her “death” as her old identity, and entering her new life as property of, and member of, her husband’s family)—for these reasons it is rare as a kimono color outside these instances.
Repetitive pattern on the collar and Obi but of different sizes. It draws the eyes and there’s a nice balance. I am surprised they chose not to augment the coordination with more color in the obiage and obijime rather than these faded colors, or why not just white?
